She incurred NO out of pocket expenses for her and her family. The program includes class room lectures, hands on activities, educational and recreational field trips in addition to evening and weekend enhancement and recreational activities. The participants will develop professional skills, experience college life, interact with like-minded peers and learn the college admission and financial aid procedures. She will also receive a certificate of completion in addition to other merit awards during the closing ceremony.
Madison Rhodes, won the HELP scholarship provided by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Prairie View A&M University, for their “2012 Summer Transportation Institute”, which will be held from June 4 – June 29, 2012. This four-week program is a residential program. Support for this program comes from Federal Highway Administration through Texas Department of Transportation and University Transportation Center for Mobility. STI exposes students to various exciting activities and field trips that provide them an understanding of the engineering and broader civil engineering with a special focus on transportation industry and careers. She received a $4000 scholarship, from the HELP/Prairie View A&M University collaboration, which will cover all the expenses for the program. In addition, Madison was provided a HELP Travel Scholarship, which covers her round trip airfare also!
